Boedecker Cellars Pinot Noir Stewart Willamette Valley 2016 - Last Bottle

Boedecker Cellars Pinot Noir Stewart Willamette Valley 2016

Who's in for some lusty Oregon pinot noir…?!?!

Boedecker Cellars is an uber-hip, downtown Portland, urban winery grabbing sexy, killer pinot grapes from select vineyards throughout the Willamette Valley, all within an hour or so from their winery. Stewart and Athena (the actual namesake for this wine) are both UC Davis grads turned winemakers who’ve honed their skills at many fine wineries over the decades. They fell in love…with each other, but more importantly…with organic and LIVE-certified PINOT NOIR!

Stewart likes ‘em soft and ethereal, perfumed and pretty, but Athena – well, Athena likes them robust and spicy, bold and outspoken, and just drink-me-up yummy! A bountiful bowlful of cherries on this beauty, with spice cake, fennel pollen, wild herbs, juicy raspberries, cinnamon, clove, vanilla bean…nicely sappy and long, but with a lively, frenetic energy throughout! 93 POINTS! All for under $20?! Not a lot to be had, but grab a few and you can thank me later!!!

Years ago, Stewart and Athena's love story unfolded not only between themselves but also intertwined with their shared passion for Pinot Noir. Eventually, their shared love led them to establish Boedecker Cellars in 2003, a testament to their commitment to the art of winemaking.

About The Producer

Nestled in the heart of Northwest Portland, the urban winery stands just moments away from downtown and less than an hour from the cherished vineyards that inspire their craft. When you step into Boedecker Cellars Winery and Tasting Room, the dedication to fine winemaking becomes palpable, with Stewart and Athena often found in the cellar, meticulously tending to their award-winning wines.

Founding winemakers Stewart Boedecker and Athena Pappas are both deeply enamored with the world of Oregon Pinot Noir. Stewart's journey with Pinot Noir began in 1992 at Cornell University, and evolved through volunteer work at established Oregon wineries, and wine-making classes at UC Davis and Chemeketa CC. Athena, a native Portlander with Greek heritage, considers winemaking not just a passion but a vital part of her identity. Her love for the depth and intensity of Pinot Noir is evident in her hands-on approach – climbing barrels, stirring wines, and maneuvering the forklift.

Boedecker Cellars prioritizes sustainable farming in their vineyards, boasting lease ownership partnerships that ensure control over every aspect of the vine's life. Their commitment to sustainable practices, from under vine cultivation to organic material usage, reflects in the creation of nuanced, complex, and age-worthy Pinot Noirs sourced from Willamette Valley, Chehalem Mountains, Yamhill-Carlton, and the Dundee Hills AVA’s diverse terroirs.
