Bodegas y Vinedos Luna Beberide Finca La Cuesta Bierzo 2018 - Last Bottle

Bodegas y Vinedos Luna Beberide Finca La Cuesta Bierzo 2018

MENCIA! Say it with me now, men-theee-ya! Is this the prettiest wine on the planet? Maybe. Supremely drinkable…you betcha. 95 POINTS, kids, plus 93 and 92 point scores…this is a serious wine for a porch-pounding price!!! $18?!?! Larceny. This is ROCKING, 60-year-old vine Mencía that will shock you with its pure quality and class, cross my heart, and touch blue to make it true!!

Hold onto your hats, ‘cause this is going zip by like a bullet train…we BARELY have enough ($18 AND 95 points?! See ya!). So speak up now before it’s gone!

Get six? Well done. A full case? Even better. This Bierzo winery was founded in 1987 by the Luna Beberide family. Based in the village of Cacabelos, they set about focusing on Mencía for reds, a local grape that is prized for its perfume and juiciness and one we dig very heavily here at the Napa headquarters. It is often the bottle most quickly drained by ravenous employees on a Friday afternoon. 60-year-old vines. Oxygen-depriving altitudes. The PERFUME! Heady, brain-twisting, flowery, red-fruity goodness! Rose hips, lilacs, peonies, uber-fresh cherry fruits, pomegranate, and a savory, meaty, roasted coffee bit that leaves me drooling like a St. Bernard with a t-bone. This makes you CRAVE another glass, another bottle, STAT! We LOVE this. You will too – c’mon!! That price??!! While it lasts!

“Luna Beberide parcel wines reflect an area: El Bierzo . A microclimate, a soil and, of course, a vineyard. Always under the philosophy of applying a minimum intervention in the elaboration, to let the variety express itself "

About The Producer

Passion, Tradition, Respect

Going little by little, slowly, taking care of the land, pampering the vines, focused on the raw material, from the plant to the label and under the philosophy that quality is always linked to respect for the land.  Thirty years after Bernardo Luna launched himself into winemaking, today, the second generation of the Luna Beberide family, led by Alejandro Luna Beberide, only intends to follow that line of simplicity, quality and seek excellence based on to the care and respect for the vines since in 1998, by the hand of Mariano García , who was Vega Sicilia's winemaker for many years and a friend of the family, when they started the first reference reds from Luna Beberide.

"The philosophy of our house is based on simplicity and quality , and for this we seek excellence based on care and respect for each of the strains."
