Ca'Erto Amarone della Valpolicella 2016

Man, we TOLD you all these containers from Europe were starting to land….AMARONE, y’all, AMARONE!!

*** Puts on that dancey Daft Punk “Around The World” song ***

Not to sound...well….CHURLISH or something, but if you’ve been with us any length of time, it’s simply madness to ignore ANYTHING from the Magnabosco family, but Amarone is in a different league even, today -- 2016, one of the all-time kickin’ butt vintages ever, WAY over 50% OFF, glorious quality, not $85, not $65. No. BETTER. Much better. And the wine….gobsmackingly delish. We NEVER get NEARLY enough Amarone (maybe once a year if the stars align correctly) in general! So PLEASE, please, if you love luscious, sexy, hedonistic, velvety northern Italian pixie-dust magic, go, go , go and grab this supple, fine beast ASAP. Sound advice from your trusty wine merchant --- if you bought the 2014 or 2015 from us, you already KNOW the deal! In 2016 it is THE BEST they have ever made!

The way Amarone is made is fascinating (and beautiful) -- check out this video. It’s time-consuming, yields are very small, but the final product is so unique and lavishly delish.

So rich and intoxicating, in the best way. Multi-layers of ripe fruit, fig paste, blue fruit compote, cedar, molasses, black plum, toasted spices, star anise, clove, dark cocoa, and utterly mouthcoating and long while retaining freshness and balance considering its size. Great aging potential too. WE LOVE IT! Anyway, better mellow it out - there’s not much! Good luck --- I’m grabbing 6 off the top of the pallet right now for my Christmas celebrating, and another 6 for Christmas 2047!!

About The Producer

Three generations have handed down the precious art of wine-making, born from a love for their land and their roots, together with the knowledge that it is only through hard work, drive, and determination that the best results can be obtained. In the hills, vine-grower Gino Magnabosco, together with his family, carry on this very passion that traditions have handed down. They are attentive to any new improvement in grape producing technology in order to guarantee wine of the best quality to represent the area in which it is produced. Along side his family, winemaker Gino Magnabosco is part of the third generation to run the estate. They believe that hard work, drive and determination are key to obtaining the best results from their land. Maintaining, nourishing and cherishing the land of their ancestors is of up most importance. And although not certified, they farm using organic practices and an environmentally friendly approach to both viticulture and vinification.
