What does an MIT dropout (Clarke Smith) do when he falls in love with wine? He makes it, for decades. Becomes a sought-after consultant. Then he writes a classic: Postmodern Winemaking. Along the way, he starts his own label - WineSmith. Then he makes a 2015 Cab Franc that happily, joyously knocks us on our butts and we make a deal. A GREAT deal. BOOM! You’ll thank us! Clarke’s wines are all about balance and finesse. He LOVES Cab Franc and is generally considered a master of the grape. They pack a flavor punch for sure, but they have minerality, balance and depth. In this 2015? You can expect white and red cherries, sweet tobacco, cigar box aromas, creamy orchard fruit, silky tannin and a long, layered finish. We loved it -- ideally, there would be more, though! Not a lot of this (he doesn’t make much) and we’re probably one of the few places on Earth to get it. THAT’S why being Napa Valley locals is key!!
