I quake, I tremble with exhilaration to have the honor to sell this today -- Sean Thackrey is a TREASURE in the wine world, a unique man and winemaker that has been turning things on their head for many decades from his little house/winery in the oddball beach town of Bolinas, north of San Francisco a bit. PLEIADES OLD VINES at this price is...madness. I am buying 3 cases right now, excuse me. And 3 for my wife!

OK. All set. Nailed it!

If you know, you know. Do WHATEVER you can to snag some! Self-taught, and fully reliant on his intuition and senses, Sean is the antithesis of corporate wine-making -- this is a blend of (probably? Who really knows -- Syrah, Sangiovese, Mourvedre, Barbera, Carignane, Petite Sirah, Viognier, among others…) and is the 27th release of this crazy-good, drink everyday red. As Sean describes it: “The object of Pleiades Old Vines is to be delicious, delight the jaded, irritate the Wine Police, and generally go well with anything red wine goes well with.”

OH YES. Hard to categorize this, of course, but like the constellations Sean names all of his wines after, it might make you gaze skyward to figure out what all is going on here -- pomegranate, raspberry, rhubarb, dark plum, currants...very fruit-driven with little to no oak presence, medium-bodied, terrifyingly easy to quaff, balanced and easy...a little jam, a little crushed flower, a bit of spice...anyway, DANG! We are SO stoked! DON’T miss!
