SLEEPER Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc has been unleashed -- the 2019 is upon us (well, for 24 hours or until we sell out anyway! And we WILL, we always do!) and it is shaking up the planetary magnetic field!
Bottled just a few months ago, after being raised in icy-cool stainless steel, with a tender hand guiding it through 2020 (with a short vacation in neutral French oak), to now --- it’s a juicy, lip-smacking, vibrating masterpiece!
Savvy Last Bottle clients who've been around the block with us a few times will know this brand (it's ours, since the debut in 2005), but if you are new to it --- give us 38 seconds to explain why you NEED and WANT this gorgeous bottle of wine in your cellar, ASAP! Insanely good considering the pedigree here! It's a bit long, but worth it, trust us!
As you know by now, we are longtime Napa Valley locals. We grew up with, schooled with, delivered pizzas and newspapers and partied with winemakers, vineyard managers, winery GMs and hundreds of now wine-industry people. Now and then one of them will call and offer us a bit of "extra" wine - which we bottle under our exclusive label Sleeper (def: an unexpected success). Often, as is the case today, the source of these wines (which are protected like nuclear launch codes under reams of non-disclosure documents) are very high-end wineries who sell the same wines for MUCH MUCH more!! That's the quick and skinny.
On to our proud new release today...2019 is another BANNER vintage for Napa whites in particular, and our source for this just killed it --- AGAIN (they always do, actually, man we wish we could tell ya...). Stylish, pure, refined, electric and zippy. No green notes, all fruity, lemony love. Unlike our Reserve, this one sees no new oak, which keeps it all pure and clear as a bell -- this Sleeper is all about sweet citrus fruits, yuzu, lemon creme and the lightest touch of passionfruit - just lovely, happy-making and full of energy. Drink it with everything and nothing. Last year the ‘18 sold out in 2 hours…! Don’t miss!

This racy, fresh, stylish 2019 wine is blended with about 20% Semillon and sees a bit of 2-year old French oak, which adds depth and richness to complement the brisk freshness that all SB should have. We have produced this wine for years! It is a huge crowd-pleaser, and is a wine to drink anytime, with anything!

Pairing Suggestions
Ideally? Fresh uni (sea urchin). MMM. But since that is hard to come by...oysters, goat cheese-ish things, Caesar salad, you get the idea. Also, while sitting in a bathtub, a beach, or a pool, or on your couch, heck even in bed. It's particularly great in a Thermos at the movies, preferably when that movie is The Big Lebowski. Cheers!
