Domaine de Poulvarel Costieres de Nimes Les Gres 2018 - Last Bottle

Domaine de Poulvarel Costieres de Nimes Les Gres 2018

Dave D. from Napa, CA --- looking at YOU!

We’d estimate roughly half of Napa Valley’s 85K residents, including longtime wine guy Dave D. are currently SMASHING our website to grab this wine, truly one of our greatest discoveries since the inception of Last Bottle, an uber-overdeliverer of epic proportions, a wine so alive and real and singing that winemakers across the globe reach out to us to buy, and literally many thousands more of you across America who know and love and cherish this bold, blockbuster, straight-up delicious Syrah/Grenache (60/40 this year)!!

A case buy, easily, we just landed the new release (no press yet, last year scored 91, although we gave it 137 points ;-)) of “Les Gres”, same jaw-hanging price, same ASTOUNDLY complex and layered wine from the ancient Roman soils of the gorgeous terroir of Costieres de Nimes. A lot of you have seen this video, but for the newbies, check it out, that is the 2000+ year old Pont du Gard (an aqueduct from the first century), a stone’s throw from the winery, and a Unesco Heritage Site. THAT’S where this wine comes from. It’s...magic, people.

Probably the best Les Gres yet. Savory black cherry, dark plums, plum sauce (yeah!!), a whiff of tapenade, menthol, sweet black fruits, and wild sweet herbs (think fennel or thyme), crushed rock, and a long, juicy, savory, spicy, meaty finish where a bit of toasty French oak rolls in. Definitely one of those wines that shows you something different with each sip, each whiff, and it’s fantastic with cheese and smoky meat or veggies, lamb, stuff like that. KILLER! Ding ding, we have a another wineer...get it while you can - will be another year before we get more!

Our estate, located near the Pont du Gard, is a family estate run with passion for several generations ...
