Bouchaine Pinot Noir Estate Carneros 2016 - Last Bottle

Bouchaine Pinot Noir Estate Carneros 2016

Sorry.

93-POINT Napa Valley pinot for that price is surely a mistake.

No? Well, ok then. BOUCHAINE! It’s been around forever but the last few years since Napa native Chris Kajani has been making the wines, HOLD ON. Bouchaine is the oldest continuously operating winery in Carneros, a region located on the southern tip of Napa Valley. In the late 1880s, a Missouri-born settler named Boon Fly (also a local restaurant by our office) planted grapes and fruit trees on the property. You can read the rest of the fascinating story HERE

Anyway, suffice it to say the wine is KICKIN’, we scored a massive deal, we think you should JUMP on it. With an eye to Burgundy in the winemaking style, this Carneros pinot is silky goodness, lithe and powerful, elegant and percolating with sweet cherry and baking spices, all in nice balance with harmonious mouthfeel. Seriously? $19 for Napa pinot, man, that has GOT to be wrong...

Anyway - while it lasts! Have a great weekend!

Crafted from 36-year-old dry farmed vines, these roots run deep and so do the flavors. Unctuous dark cherry and blueberry aromas are held together with layers of cigar spice and earthy complexity. The wine showcases a lush entry with a burst of cherry that envelops the entire palate, with layers of fresh tobacco, charcuterie spice, and chantarelle mushroom. The finish goes on and on. Each vine was hand-planted by Dr. Gee's family and close friends; this wine is truly a gift from his family to all of us.

About The Producer

Bouchaine is the oldest continuously operating winery in Carneros, a region located on the southern tip of Napa Valley. In the late 1880s, a Missouri-born settler named Boon Fly planted grapes and fruit trees on the property. An Italian winemaker named Johnny Garetto bought the land in 1927 and farmed it until 1961, when he sold to Beringer.
