Holy…..I mean, to have some of this to offer is simply astounding. Heck, a year ago we could barely get any at the normal $50 price...but THIS??! Black Kite? WAY over 50% OFF? This is one of the hippest, savviest wines for those aficionados, those lovers, those collectors of graceful, complex pinot noir at it’s finest and silkiest. OR, thanks to this mega-deal of epic proportions -- any totally normal wine-loving human. WOW!
The Kite’s Rest bottling is all estate fruit from the vineyard in Anderson Valley (cool, verdant pinot and chardonnay heaven). In fact, what are you doing this weekend? Drive up there and see -- eat and stay HERE. Anyway, back to the silky beauty, the warm, elegant grace of this wine...mmmmm...so, it opens up with sweet black cherry but then moves into bright red fruit -- pomegranate, raspberry compote, a bit of toasty oak, but when it hits your mouth, wow! Purple fruit again, rich and round, toasty, with powerful structure and very layered and complex. Rock solid -- absolutely NUTS at our price. Wow! This was made by Jeff Gaffner (also of the highly-regarded Saxon-Brown), a master of the grape going back to his early days with the legendary Dick Arrowood.
What can we say? Pretty much think we are crushing it today. While it lasts…!

Over the ensuing years we have learned that we are engaged in a journey, one that combines high aspirations with long term commitment, patience and fortitude. It is a process of striving for the best over a long period of time. We appreciate that many of the best wines in the world are produced by family-owned wineries that have been around for generations. We are dedicated to the journey, and aspire to making great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for many years.

About The Producer
The inspiration for Black Kite Cellars came many years ago when Rebecca and Tom Birdsall bicycled through the Burgundy region in France. We went to Burgundy because we liked the wines that came from the region, particularly the refined wines produced from the Pinot Noir grape. For two weeks we meandered on our bikes along narrow roads through the famous Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune regions of the Côte d’Or. We were surprised to see how small the vineyards were, and how the wines differed significantly from one small town to the next, when they were literally just a short bike ride apart.
