Cerro Red Blend Napa Valley 2016

Louisiana, this one's for YOU!! Go Tigers! OK, it’s for everyone, really, who is savvy enough and fast enough to grab some (you saw that price, right? For a gusto-filled powerhouse Napa blend? Bit of a head-spinner, yeah??), but we have some hardcore Cerro fans down that way, and rightly so. And whether you hail from Lettsworth, Sacramento, Boulder, or anywhere in between --- do EVERYTHING in your considerable power to grab some of this outrageously rich, silky and deeply satisfying bottle of vinous goodness --- get it NOW, hurry, and come back for the deets!

Speaking of deets --- the talented Derek Beitler is the mind behind this label -- he’s a nephew to Chuck Wagner of Caymus fame and has wine in his blood --he worked summers at Caymus as a kid (with cousins Joe, Charlie, and Jenny). He also created the wildly popular Carne Humana and Skyhook labels, for those in the know. This kickass blend of Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah and Zinfandel- sourced from Rutherford and Oak Knoll just KNOCKED us on our proverbial keesters -- it’s big, yes, but POLISHED. Fantastic 2016 vintage, too, and you’ll know the moment you get it in your mouth.

** did you read this far and not get some? Hurry…we won’t get more...***

Stoked beyond belief to score this. Warm baskets-full of wild blackberry and PURPLE-ness, floral and spiced, plush and packed with fruit and espresso and unmitigated JOY. We got our cases! On that note, if sexy blends like this are your jam, get MORE than you think you will want. OK, we’re done. While it lasts…!

This bold and rustic blend showcases two typically-brawny varietals in a polished Napa style. Petit Verdot sourced from two choice vineyard blocks in Rutherford and Oak Knoll forms the core of the blend.  Both sites are blessed with well-drained soils contributing to the uncharacteristically nuanced varietal character.  This supple-tannined framework is fleshed out with soft fruit and an inky freshness of Petite Sirah and finally a slight Zinfandel zing.

About The Producer

JDB Wines was founded by proprietor Derek Beitler with his first vintage in 2007. Derek grew up in Southern Oregon – his introduction to wine did not come in this part of the state but rather in tiny Rutherford, Napa Valley where his Uncle Chuck Wagner operated Caymus Winery. Derek would often spend part of his summers working at Caymus – growing up in the cellar so to speak during his summer vacations. He recalls doing odd jobs to start, helping on the bottling line and then ultimately taking on more actual wine making responsibilities.
