Rocca Family Vineyards Chardonnay UV Vineyard Sonoma Coast 2019

Alright, wine fatigue setting in…espresso machine is down…let’s get some soul-invigorating white wine back in here, STAT!

Rocca #5 – Rocca Family Vineyards Chardonnay UV Vineyard Sonoma Coast 2019

Oh yes, the impressive follow-up to the 2018 vintage, this Ulises Valdez vineyard Sonoma Coast chardonnay is just what the doctor ordered!!! Lemon curd, with this terrific Bananas Foster tropicality on the nose – the banana, the browned butter, the caramelized sugars, and that kiss of vanilla and toasty oak note from the Brandy flambe?!?! Just KILLER stuff! I’ll say again – if you backflip over those cult-y Cali chard releases each year (like we most certainly do!), then this is a no-brainer.

Cash me out, I’m done, Cali-chardonnay doesn’t get better for our price today!!! I mean, c’mon! The heady and powerful nose brightens up on the tongue laser-quick, with orange oil, and river rocks, lemon zest, some pomelo too… with a kiss of those crunchy, crazy juicy Korean pears. It’s wondrous. It’s delicious. And it’s here for the taking. UNBELIEVABLE price for Ulises Valdez vineyard chardonnay!!!!

Rocca is a Napa-based family winery with two estate vineyards –  one in Yountville and a second in Coombsville. They’re big-time believers in organic farming – and they make complex and balanced wines to showcase their land and the grapes that grow there.

About The Producer

Mary Rocca and her husband Dr. Eric Grigsby purchased their 21-acre Yountville vineyard in 1999 – planting cabernet sauvignon, syrah, cabernet franc, and merlot. They quickly converted to sustainable and organic farming practices, selling a portion of their fruit and keeping some choice lots for themselves. In 2000, they added the 11-acre Collinetta vineyard in Coombsville where cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc thrive. Their small, hand-crafted production is almost exclusively offered to their members and is rarely seen in retail.
