Domaine de la Croix Senaillet Saint-Veran Les Rochats 2017 - Last Bottle

Domaine de la Croix Senaillet Saint-Veran Les Rochats 2017

All hail White Burgundy! Racy-fresh chardonnay from Burgundy’s southernmost appellation is SO RARE to see here at Last Bottle (right? This just never comes around NEARLY enough…) that we can scarcely grok it! 90 POINTS, killer 2017 vintage, ORGANIC, uber-sweet price, and a massive crowd-pleaser, we PROMISE. If you don’t love this, why, we’ll come to your house and clean the gutters, do laundry, and give your cat a bath (see, we’re really serious).

“The 2017 Burgundy reds are a mixed bag, but the whites shine brilliantly…” – James Suckling

And shine it does…like Walter White’s head at high noon in the New Mexico desert! Anywho...the PRICE! Under $20, are you crazy? Are we crazy? Well, we don’t have much, and it is Sunday...maybe the accountant won’t notice. How we found this gem is nothing short of a modern-day vinous miracle, but we did get just BARELY enough for all the chardonnay-hungry across this country. So…FLY! The CITRUS! Eureka lemon, key lime, tangerines for days...oh MY! A little white peach, perhaps, some minerally, chalky, oyster shell, of course…but most importantly, always, quintessentially imperative with White Burgundy…ACID. Brisk, racy, bracing, take your pick, but revel in the cheek-tingling goodness of it – all at an absurd price. There’s concentration, power, and muscle in this – way, WAY more than could be expected in a White Burgundy for this RIDONKULOUS price. Six years young and not a pittance of oxidation! This is holding better than Flex Seal in those infomercials...DANG! So good! Of course, there is not a lot – when it comes to WHITE BURGUNDY at the sort of Last Bottle deal level, there NEVER is! So stock up – who knows when this will come around again!!!

About The Producer

Legend has it, Constantine stopped at the shores of La Croix in the year 312 on his way back from Rome when a vision of a cross appeared in the sky. The scene is depicted in The Vision of the Cross by Raphael (ever heard of him?) in the Hall of Constantine at the Vatican. No historian has ever been able to confirm that Constantine’s vision actually happened in the city of La Croix, but that didn’t stop early developers from attaching the legend to the territory. Those early developers wasted no time on the land, and built a school, church, a stone cross, and planted 100 hectares of vines– enter Domaine de la Croix. The winery started strong, quickly receiving cru Classé designation in 1955, but fell into disrepair in the following years. In 2001, the historic winery was acquired by the Bolloré Group who have taken titanic measures to resurrect the vineyard and transform the grounds to a modern winery.
