Cascina Luisin Barbaresco Paolin 2013 - Last Bottle

Cascina Luisin Barbaresco Paolin 2013

Hey, Mike B., of Boulder, CO --- dood, we bought this for YOU (Mike loves Nebbiolo and snagged a big pile of credits in his account using our referral code)! Single-vineyard BARBARESCO greatness, over 50% OFF, and Wine Spectator 93 POINTS! 2013 vintage! Does life get better if you love Nebbiolo?? No!

Cascina Luisin is a Last Bottle direct import for several years now, and it’s one of those wineries we feel like we “discovered” and is now getting the attention of the critics. That’s a double-edged sword, as we get a little less every year….so grab THIS while we got it. Founded in 1913, they make spectacular, fine, complex Barbaresco from 3 of the great vineyards in the region -- Rabaja, Asili, and Paolin. The Paolin bottling is arguably the sexiest, most approachable and softest, while still having serious structure and power. 2013 is an excellent vintage and this has a long life ahead of it, if you can wait!! We can’t.

DIRECTIONS:

Thank your delivery guy (offer them a glass of water, maybe? Or a LaCroix?).

Order a pizza.

Run, don’t walk, to get a corkscrew, Rabbit, Coravin or whatever you use.

Tear box open with knife, teeth, anything.

Pop that cork, what is taking so long…

INHALE the rose petals, Asian spice (oh-so delicate), dried cherry, anise, and black tea aromas….my goodness. It is filling this office as I type. Beautiful, elegant, light on its feet but terrifically packed with SO MUCH FLAVOR. We love it. We love the PRICE -- c’mon! Single-vineyard Barbaresco!! While it lasts, Mike!

About The Producer

Cascina Luisin has been founded in 1913 by Luigi Minuto, great-grandfather of the current owner Roberto Minuto. The wine estate has always been owned and run by the family, with the aim of guaranteeing meticulous control over all stages of winemaking: from accurate and rigorous care of the vineyards and attentive work in the cellar, to marketing and public relation duties. Cascina Luisin is situated in the Rabajà aera in the territory of Barbaresco, one of the epicentres of Langhe’s winemaking. The winery cultivates 8 hectares of vineyards and produces an average of 30’000 bottles yearly. Cascina Luisin concentrates on the four classic grape varieties Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Arneis. The company’s business philosophy is firmly based on special care for a sound viticulture and on great respect for tradition regarding technique of vinification. This is the secret which allows each single vineyard to express its unique and undisputed qualities.
