Bodegas Bernabe Navarro Tragolargo Alicante 2013
Wow! We were simply not prepared for the RUSH we got when sampling this Spanish beauty!! 90 POINTS, uber-low price! Dark, intense, heady stuff! Supa-dope price, natch!
Imagine a bowl of sweet, dark, intense black cherries. Sprinkle some Double Dutch dark cocoa powder on them. Then a bit of thyme, rosemary and tarragon. Wave a wand and turn it into wine and that’s exactly what you have here -- a fascinating, fresh, thoughtful, masculine red that is pure and wild-feeling, a wine that makes you want to go out and make something mouth-wateringly delicious to eat. Something simple and savory, like THIS. MMMM. Another cool thing? This is a wine that changes dramatically as it “breathes” -- giving you different aspects with every sip. Pretty cool.
We’re hesitant to say much more, really, as yesterday’s wine sold out in record time (who got the last bottle and your $50 credit??) and we don’t have a lot of this one either!! So zip-zip-zip if you love bold, complex Spanish Alicante!! While it lasts…!

Winemaker: Rafa Bernabe
About The Producer
Rafa Bernabé with his wife, Olga, founded the winery in 1999. The winery is located in the village of Villena in the Alicante region. The vineyards are all dry grown, old bush vines with very small yields. Rafa's focus on obscure and unusual grape varieties has set the benchmark for pinpoint, terroir-driven wines from the region. Rafa wants to respect this sense of place by intervening as little as possible both in the vineyard and in the winery.
