Domaine Albin Jacumin Chateauneuf-du-Pape La Begude des Papes 2020

CHÂTEAUNEUF! Jacumin’s La Begude Des Papes is an all-time classic, double 91 POINTS and we scored a melon-bursting price of over 55% OFF! UNDER $30! Huzzah!

We’re having France flashbacks as of late! Yesterday’s killer grenache from Xavier Vignon, and now today’s trip to one of our favorite CdP producers – Domaine Albin Jacumin. We tested EVERYTHING at the estate – with Albin leaping barrel to barrel with his trusty wine thief – eagerly drinking in the components that will become the next iteration of this wine. Those lots were so unique, so exceptional, so complex – it’s no wonder this stunning wine just absolutely CRUSHES!

70% grenache, 15% syrah, 12% mourvedre, and a 3% splash of cinsault – all from some of the most INCREDIBLE vineyard land in Châteauneuf. Vines half a century old on average, shooting up through the cobbled stones of Châteauneuf’s highest plateau...a stone’s throw from Chateau Rayas, and Chateau Vaudieu, all with the 12th-century ruin of Pope Clement's palace in the backdrop, just...freakin’...MAGIC! At THIRTY-SIX DOLLARS OFF – you NEED some of this! The quality and purity are EXCEPTIONAL, just classic and extraordinary kirsch and raspberry liqueur, then sweet Provence herbs of lavender and thyme, pastilles, plums, blackberry pie, and a chef’s kiss of French oak, perfectly balanced. Scintillating and electric freshness followed by a rich, silky texture too. So GOOD. Not jammy or overripe, just...so...AHHH! Get me another glass! Take me back! I don’t even have time to tell you about the delicious Daube de Boeuf Agnès whipped up for dinner (or Albin breaking out ALL the digestifs)! You simply HAVE to try this! 91 points barely scratch the surface of this wine’s depth! Will shine for years and years to come too – one of the greatest values on CdP we’ve ever found! While it lasts!

A domain that is making its way, without noise, and is being built little by little. When Albin decided in 2006 to set up shop alone in order to develop his brand, which until then had been in the shadows, his parents encouraged him and helped him to build a cellar in 2007. Then in 2012, in view of the success of the project, he expanded it with a new ageing cellar, offices and a cellar not far from the village centre, where you will not be able to miss the visit during your visit. We are waiting for you there!

About The Producer

For over a century, the Albin Jacumin Domain has seen four generations of winemakers successively passing down their passion and pride from father to son. Our domain has evolved, first started by Aimé, it was then passed onto his son Alain who managed, with the support of his wife Sylvette to perpetuate his father’s passion for the noble craft of winemaking. They have also extended the estate. Their son Albin and his wife Agnès are now skillfully striving to maintain and modernize the domain. The wine-making know-how varies from one winegrower to another, each one adding his personal touch. On top of the many necessary skills, which have been transmitted from one generation to the next, we have also been blessed with a vineyard characterized by the diversity of its soil, hence allowing us to obtain complex cellar wines.
