99 POINT Castello Romitorio at the lowest price in the USA! The epic and iconic 2019 Tuscan vintage is still giving us moments of sheer delight, and this Riserva packs one heck of a punch!

CASTELLO ROMITORIO! The enchanting, brooding, and hauntingly complex Brunello RISERVA! 99 points, then 97 points, plus triple 96s — with Vinous even calling this little baddie “to die for…” And we got some! Not a lot, mind you, and certainly not enough — but still. And all at the BEST PRICE IN THE USA!!!

Let’s talk about rare…one of only NINE Riservas EVER made at the estate, only 500 cases crafted in 2019, and only about 60 imported to the USA…and we got MORE than anybody else in the country. Let’s touch the heavens with this for a moment — ‘cause a glass of this is a transcendental, out-of-body experience that only a handful of wines can incite in even the most seasoned wine drinker. Poised and perfumed violets, and cassis, with black tea, and pomegranates, then tobacco leaf and this ferrous, almost smoky iron ore character. The first sip brings a cascade of roasted plums, and wet clay, with figs, and dried cherries, and strawberries, with black peppercorns, clove, and smoked paprika. Every swirl, every minute, every hour that it sits in the glass brings a whole new wave of nuance and depth — but the structure, the velvety texture, and the firm, tannic grip is as indomitable and unchanging as a brick wall. The proverbial beauty AND the beast, if you will…and just a drop-dead STUNNER that seems to never end. WOW! This is a bucket-list, taste-it-to-believe-it kind of experience — and I think I’ll just HAVE to pour myself another glass! Hump Day, who????

What a life. Read the reviews, do whatever due diligence must be handled before you can justify your purchase — but trust your digital beverage scribe and spiritual wine guru — do whatever you must with all the speed you can muster, ‘cause you will DEARLY regret missing out on this!

Once in a lifetime Brunello Riserva! Go, go, ROMITORIO!

**Romitorio Fun Fact: Head honcho Filippo Chia’s dad traded 3 of his prized paintings for these 200 hectares of land and a castle that would become Castello Romitorio (Hermitage Castle). Sandro Chia (who also designs all their stunning labels) is a principal member of the Italian Neo-Expressionist movement — and his art is nearly as stunning as the wine inside!**

"One of only nine Riservas ever produced at the estate, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva is a compelling benchmark for the house. The nose is pure and detailed, with red cherries, wild berries, floral perfume, saline earth, and savory spice. Full-bodied, it has a silky, weightless feel on the palate, with ripe tannins, mouthwatering acidity, and a long, finessed finish that stays bright and composed." -Jeb Dunnuck
97 POINTS
"A luminous ruby red. An exciting and inviting nose, violets, cherries, but also plums and a hint of liquorice, cold smoke, yeast and oak. On the palate, grippy, juicy tannins, ferrous, vibrant, lingering, a salty finish." -Falstaff
96 POINTS
"In the bottle with the white artist label, the Castello Romitorio 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva offers more intensity and barbecue smoke, especially, but the fruit integration is just as seamless as the other wines in this flight. Along with dark fruit, you get spice, toasted almond, grilled herb and blue flower. It boasts sweet tannins and a soft, texturally rich finish. Only 6,306 bottles were created." -Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

”The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is to die for. Seamless and silken in feel, it has a classic profile of dried strawberry, dusty rose, cedar chavings, clove and hints of Tuscan dust. The 2019 has a core of juicy acidity that enhances its ripe wild berry scents as nuances of sour citrus add complexity under an air of violet inner florals. This tapers off licorice-tinged and perfumed, with remarkable length, fine-grained tannins and a pleasantly bitter sensation that calls the taster back to the glass for more.” -Vinous
96 POINTS
"A selection of bunches from the estate’s oldest vineyards planted in 1987, the 2020 Riserva impresses with its stunning bouquet and graceful architecture. It is easy to get lost in its heady perfumes of pressed violet and lilac potpourri, sweet earth and sandalwood. Smooth and finely textured, though not without backbone, it flows effortlessly, meting out flavours of wild strawberry, dark cherry and nutmeg. Pristine and lithe, it seduces with elegance rather than ensnaring with brawn." -Decanter
95 POINTS
"Though perhaps not as intense or showy as some 2019 riservas, this red is harmonious and elegant. Cherry, strawberry, earth, wild herb and flinty, mineral flavors hold court as this evolves across the palate, leaving earth, iron and savory accents on the lingering finish. Decant now, or wait a few more years. Best from 2027 through 2045. 520 cases made, 55 cases imported." -Wine Spectator
