Lutum Pinot Noir Gap's Crown Vineyard Petaluma Gap Sonoma Coast 2014 - Last Bottle

Lutum Pinot Noir Gap's Crown Vineyard Petaluma Gap Sonoma Coast 2014

Turn us over, we’re cooked, we’re done, exhausted, fried, spent, inebriated and depleted.

LUTUM! Wine Advocate 93 points and OVER 50% OFF! Now THAT’S a finale! A few weeks back we offered a jaw-dropping deal on a 95-pointer from Lutum (which is now a defunct brand, but crushed it for many years), and ALONG with that deal came a small batch of the revered single-vineyard bottling from Gap’s Crown, one of the most coveted pinot vineyards on the Sonoma Coast. PERFECT for a mini-marathon, are we right? How about you guys??! Digging it?? Cleaning up, we hope??!

This lush, generous, hedonistic pinot is not for the shy! No, this is rich, ripe, toasty, ultra-plush and silky stuff  (pours glass) - yes, indeed it is, and to us tastes like something WAY pricier (we mean pricier than the retail price of $68, not to mention OUR wicked price!). Just read the review below ---- and trust your local, neighborhood, planet-wide wine merchant...get more than you think you will want!! While it lasts…

Nestled in the Petaluma Gap region in the southern part of the Sonoma Coast AVA, Gap’s Crown Vineyard was first planted in 2002 to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyard is classified as a Region I cool climatic zone due to the fact that it sits at the head of a wind funnel, where it receives cool evening temperatures that enable an extended growing while maintaining acidity. The elevation ranges between 300 to 800 feet on rocky hillside terrain of the western slope of Sonoma Mountain. The soil is Goulding clay loam and provides the vines with necessary drainage and limited yields.

About The Producer

LUTUM was born from a shared vision between Bill Price, entrepreneur and owner Price Family Vineyards, and winemaker Gavin Chanin. Their wine focuses on small-production, single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from prime vineyard sites in California. The name LUTUM is Latin for dirt or soil, referencing their mission to make wines that express these great sites, with little to mask the vineyards’ natural character. Together, they are the Bards of LUTUM.
