After spending time in Bordeaux, Giampaolo Motta left his family's leather business behind in Naples and headed north to work in Chianti where he learned the art of winemaking. 1998 was the first La Massa, from the Panzano region of Tuscany. He got huge Wine Spectator scores and the rest is history. Now, one of Bordeaux’s most famous and respected consultants, Stephane Derenoncourt is on board and the huge qualitative roll is continuing.
