Chateau Mayne-Vieil Cuvee Alienor Fronsac Bordeaux 2015 - Last Bottle

Chateau Mayne-Vieil Cuvee Alienor Fronsac Bordeaux 2015

BORDEAUX! It’s Monday, and we NEED a 93-POINT Bordeaux, oh yes we do. $16?!

As you’ve no doubt heard us bellowing from the rooftops, 2015/2016 in Bordeaux is STELLAR -- there are tons of great wines across the board --- finding them at a brain-rattling price is the key! Luckily, we’ve been going there for years and have made some PRETTY good connections, we think, and then we bring it in ourselves. Makes for unbeatable pricing --- oh, did we mention 93 points on this bad boy?

Chateau Mayne-Vieil Cuvee Alienor (“Alienor” is the Provençal equivalent of the name Eleanor) is the luxury cuvee from vineyards in the Seze family since 1918. This is almost jammy, but maintains a fine line of balance with its rich blackberry fruits, round, rich, mouthfilling texture, silky tannin and surprisingly long, complex finish. A MASSIVE no-brainer at our price if you love succulent, plush Bordeaux --- and really? Who doesn’t? At sixteen bucks?! C’mon!

We bought every bottle we could from the Chateau...while it lasts…! Happy Monday indeed!

History, family and wine go hand in hand in Bordeaux, and Chateau Mayne-Vieil can be traced back across three influential families since the 1500’s.

About The Producer

From 1500 to 1809, Mayne-Vieil belonged to the DePaty family. The squire DePaty, Lord of Mayne-Vieil, built the winery in the 17th century.

Mayne-Vieil was then purchased by the Fontemoing family- a group of renowned vintners from Libourne.

Louis Seze acquired the property in 1918. His son, Roger, who succeeded him in the early 1950's, expanded the vineyards and was the first proprietor of to begin bottling and selling the wine directly to private clients. Roger's children, Bertrand and Marie-Christine Seze, now run the winery and they enlarged Mayne Vieil to more than 10 hectares.
