Quivira Vineyards Vineyards Grenache Wine Creek Ranch Dry Creek Valley 2015 - Last Bottle

Quivira Vineyards Vineyards Grenache Wine Creek Ranch Dry Creek Valley 2015

!! 93 POINTS, wicked price! Classic Quivira!

Elegant, refined strawberry pie. We’re not sure exactly what that means, but go with it. It’s just what comes blasting through your senses the moment you receive this box, tear it open, and attack it with a corkscrew. Fantastically delicious, easy-drinking, wonderful, warm, and almost Pinot Noir-like with a juicier, more perfumey personality. Quivira just totally CRUSHED it with this wine (in the excellent 2015 vintage to boot). Don’t miss!!

Geez, do you know how many $100+, 93-point wines are out there? $19! Made to mimic a Chateauneuf-du-Pape, we thought this was a HUGE success and pretty much blew away everything else on our tasting bar last week (if you want a refresher on our tasting protocol, here is a VIDEO we made). THAT’S the #1 requirement before we do ANYTHING -- that wine’s gotta rock the house. And so it does! We whittled the price down to something fantastic, for a finesse-filled wine that goes with just about anything, and certainly all on it’s own too. The winery only make a handful of cases here, so there’s very little to go around. While it lasts…!

The charm of Quivira Grenache is a result of achieving optimal ripeness at lower sugars, allowing fruit to be harvested earlier, capturing its freshness. Partial whole-cluster fermentation, a classic Pinot Noir wine making technique, is utilized to balance tannins and add high-toned red fruit. Mimicking wine making in the Southern Rhône, Grenache’s prized strawberry aromatics are preserved in the traditional 600 and 900 gallon French oak Foudres.

Admire the beautiful violet-tinged garnet color. Aromas of freshly crushed strawberries truly leap from the glass. The round palate entry leads to bright red fruit flavors accented by subtle Mediterranean herbs…think thyme, oregano, and marjoram. Superbly balanced acid—a Quivira hallmark—adds a refreshing quality to the finish.

The link between how Quivura farms and their wines is a key component in their overall wine making philosophy. The integrity of the estate and health of the vines is the center-point of their sustainability commitment.
