Domaine de Poulvarel Costieres de Nimes 2016 - Last Bottle

Domaine de Poulvarel Costieres de Nimes 2016

POULVAREL. Is it our all-time best selling, most-loved and most wildly over-delivering wine we have ever sold over the years? It’s definitely in the Top 3!! FOR A REASON! And this one….this...godsend, is from the utterly superb 2016 vintage ---- this is a “case me”, back-up-the-truck kind of buy as it has been for years. DO NOT miss this vintage!! Wow!

All we can say is move lightning quick to get this in your cart --- this is a HUGE client fave!!

Syrah/Grenache from the ancient soils located near the famous Roman aqueduct called the Pont Du Gard, built in the 1st century AD in Southern France (SW of Chateauneuf-du-Pape), is one of our proudest discoveries over the years. They seem to make wine with some sort of magic Roman elixir that charges your taste buds with energy and life. And for the price we can offer it to you? C’mon!!!

SAVORY. Black cherries, black truffles, black olives. Big wine, relatively light on its feet however, and graceful…. imagine a young Shaq breakdancing (or watch this), if you will. These wines have the ineffable sense of “garrigue”, as well, sort of a “sweet wild herbs in the dusty wind” note in them, that makes them so compelling for such a mind-meltingly great price. In 2016, this is better than ever. So PERFUMEY! Drop-dead amazing stuff -- that’s all we’ll say! While it lasts…!

The Domaine de Poulvarel in Sernhac, near the Pont du Gard is a family
vineyard cultivated with passion for several generations.
This vineyard of the Rhône Valley, offers tastings of rosé, white and
red wines in Costières de Nîmes and Vins de Pays appellation.

About The Producer

It is impossible to dissociate the Poulvarel Estate from Elisabeth and
Pascal Glas.
And for good reason, in 2004, while Pascal worked in wine estates for
25 years, they decided to create their own winery on family lands. What
could seem like a crazy bet at that moment, is now a well defended bet.
The vintages of the estate are among the "award-winning" wines of the
region and are "noticed" by the specialized press. Pascal passed on his
passion for wine to Elisabeth and together they had the audacity to
launch and the will to continue. They have united their strength, their
differences, their know-how and now offer wines worthy of the best
tables. On
a filtering soil of pebbles Villafranchian Rhôdanien type mindélien,
Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Mourvèdre give wines with strong
expression of terroir and a unique character. In the place of POULVARELS on shallower and gravelly soils
, sauvignons, cabernet and merlot offer typical wines, fruity and
surprisingly sweet. Building with modern geometry, designed with Pont du
Gard stones and a modern and insulating cladding. The combination of
materials used has been studied to obtain an optimal temperature of
breeding and conservation.
