This is honestly one of most re-requested wines we bring in from France -- those in the know understand what a jaw-dropping QPR wine this is --- totally in a class of its own in this price range. And that’s BEFORE we get to working on the price!!


This wine is BIG, bold, unapologetically dark and intense, and a ridiculous, screaming, no-brainer deal. When we drink it, we imagine the deep, powerful voice of James Earl Jones (Darth Vader and “THIS is CNN”) saying: “This Syrah is redolent of the potent essence of blue fruit”. It reaches into your soul. It IS a favorite because of the price, yes, but this is serious stuff, packed with dark fruits, spices, smoke and camphor, with a savory, smoked meat kind of feel to it. Not a heavy wine, but oh-so flavorful with a huge, long finish. Fantastic!!

A clean and powerful wine. Complex with notes of camphor, leather, smoke, fresh dark fruits and mocha. The mouth is wide, full and well structured. Beautiful length.

About The Producer

Sernhac, an ancient Saracen village, is the most northern terroir of the Costières de Nîmes.

That’s the place, near the Pont du Gard, where Elisabeth and Pascal Glas decided to create in 2004 the Domaine de Poulvarel.

What could have looked like a wild bet, carried now out against odds.
