Capture Red Alliance Spring Mountain District Napa Valley 2013

DENIS MALBEC. The legendary French winemaker (who was born in Pauillac and was winemaker at First Growth Chateau Latour for a decade, as was his father) behind SO MANY 95-100 points Napa wines (notably Kapcsandy, Blankiet) made this powerful, muscular beast. Sadly, Denis passed away in 2016, leaving behind an incredible legacy of amazing wines, this being one of them, and it is NOT for the faint of heart. Packed and stacked!

We are beyond lucky to have snagged a handful of cases of this powerhouse Cabernet, and if you love the potent, mountain-grown Cab style, this is not to be missed. The vineyards for Alliance START at 1100 feet and range up to 1900. 2013 was a big, powerful vintage on top of everything else, and this killer cab is still a baby...will age for decades!

ROARS out of the glass and keeps pumping. Now with a few years on it, it is coming together beautifully. Crushed flowers, violets, black currant and wild, brambly blackberry fruit. It keeps opening with cocoa bean, a sweet blue fruit perfume, earth and spice. Muscular for sure, but already taking on some silkiness. Long, rich and spicy! Just a TINY amount to go around today...only the serious need apply! While it lasts...

Our Alliance red wine invokes the nature of the adventurous explorer,
showcasing lesser-known mountain vineyards and bringing them to life.
Captivating elements that are both delicate and robust, this wine comes from our mountain vineyard high upon Spring Mountain in Napa Valley, with elevations ranging from 1,100 to 1,900 feet. Alliance is a red wine blend, crafted in the muscular spirit of the Left Bank.

About The Producer

Capture brings classic Bordeaux winemaking to the rugged Mayacamas Mountains in Northern California’s wine country. Established in 2008, Capture is inspired by California’s frontier spirit while staying true to time-honored French winemaking traditions. Our origins are rooted in the far reaches of the Mayacamas Mountains, seeking out remote high elevation vineyards in Sonoma, Napa, and Lake Counties, pushing always toward the next peak.

Pairing Suggestions
